Buyer Beware

Major and/or repeated problems with jewellery has sadly become common for many people. We see up to 30+ people a week with problems that can’t be fixed, just patched (which looks fixed), but the problems will continue. Sadly, few tell anyone, and buying fake reviews online is easy and cheap.

We hope our Buyer Beware series will help some people and save others from throwing good money after bad. The list is short with well over a hundred problems used by fake jewellers, online, resellers, etc. and new ones emerge almost weekly.
(See- Dangerously thin or hollowed-out rings, & Cheap faulty Gold and Platinum alloys, etc.)

The “Churn & Burn” business model has rendered the majority of real ethical jewellers with qualified staff uncompetitive, mimicked by and replaced by fake jewellers and resellers.
(See- Jewellers training to be terminated in Australia & Fake jewellers, the factory made sold as local made rip off, etc.)

Unethical ways to cut corners is spread by necessity to keep up with other factories and culminated in disposable jewellery. They can be sold everywhere from online, company-owned groups,  buying groups, chain stores to high end and designers.
(See- Why are these both VS Clarity & Glass filled Rubies, Sapphires & Gems & Cheap faulty Gold and Platinum alloys, etc.)

We meet numerous people who’ve had 5-6 repairs in the first nine months to 2 years. On average wasted $1500 – $2000 patches, most likely by fake jewellers who send the items overseas to be repaired. A complete remake by a real jeweller is the only way to fix this jewellery properly.
(See – Buying Reviews hides bad reviews, gives credibility)

Protect yourself, Check your jeweller is REAL before buying, and ask to see the workshop! It’s reasonable! Be aware fake jewellers already have their excuses.

We hope you find them interesting and informative, so “Caveat emptor”, let the buyer beware!
